YCP @ Pakistan Association Dubai Oath Taking Ceremony

clock April 2, 2009 19:37 by author Talha

27th March 2009 saw a historic oath taking ceremony at the PAD. Following on from the record breaking election process another record was set at the Pakistan Association Dubai's oath taking ceremony.

Despite forecasts of a massive rain shower to hit Dubai, a huge crowd turned up at the PAD for the oath taking ceremony which was to usher in the new executive body at the association. But it was not only the turnout that was impressive. It was the gesture by the winning panel to invite the opposing panel and not only share the stage but also give a speech that set an example for all. Unlike normal post election scenarios where opposing candidates are shunned, the new team went out of their way to ensure they are made an integral part of the PAD. It was truly an amazing gesture and one that the winning panel under the leadership of Mr. Riaz Farooq deserve tremendous praise for and many Pakistani leaders need to learn from.

Lets also hope the panel that lost the election uses this opportunity to work together rather than as merely a chance for some photo-ops and press coverage!

The night was a memorable one. The large crowd. The speeches. The MASSIVE MASSIVE RAINSTORM. The resiliance of the Pakistanis to not let rain get in the way of their dinner :-).

YCP was there all dressed up and looking smart. We got a few snaps before the rains came down drenching EVERYTHING! Click on the link below to go to our Picasa Album.

Congratulations Pakistan!

clock March 22, 2009 21:30 by author Talha

23rd March 1940, our inspirational leaders came together to lay the foundation for Pakistan. Their energy and passion would see the creation of a country that today proudly is our identity.

Some would ask whether that energy and passion from all those years back is missing.

Well the answer is a resounding NO.

The energy today is present in our youth.
Stronger than ever
The passion to change.
To inspire. To lead. To innovate.
And most of all to be a source of pride for a nation of 160 million lively souls.

Let us resolve today to remain united and use our talents and energy for the good of our nation. Let us work hard so that the generations to come would look to us as a source of pride and inspiration - just as we look to our leaders from 1940 with the greatest respect.

We at the Youth Club of Pakistan would like to congratulate all Pakistanis on the occasion of Pakistan Day.

Mushrif park BBQ Event...!

clock December 27, 2008 23:30 by author Talha

A whole lot of sand. 30 guys. A lot of adrenaline.
Ok, maybe we are hyping up our football game a bit too much, but MAN was it one major battle....!!!
Undeterred by the presence of some prickly bushes, the brave souls made every effort to get ball past goalie. Our game of part karate-kungfu kick demonstration, part 20 meter dash races and part kabaddi-cum-wrestling did not produce many goals, but it sure did raise up a lot of desert dust and get some flabby-boys lots of exercise!!! not to mention lots of scraped feet! :)

yes the above was the scene from our second BBQ event at Mushrif park. Learning from last time's BBQ :) Qasim arrive early and qabza-o-fied a BBQ spot complete with shade!  Having assembled at around 11:00 we quickly started a game of uphill-downhill football on a patch of desert sand and prickly bushes - the best place available near our BBQ spot. after what was probably one of the most memorable football games we would ever play in YCP, we all headed for juma prayers at the Mushrif park mosque.

Post namaz started the same ol BBQ ka maza. Lighting the fire - which as always proved very interesting to most!!! While the cooking continued - lead by Nouman - the boys had a couple of games of penalty shootout and volleyball. Meanwhile Zeeshan and Sami went over to get the Biryani from the Association - might i add at this point there were some very hungry ppl amongst us. :)

Biryani came. BBQ got complete and we got down to business! FOOOOODDD! And did it all taste awesome! Lasani made some great Biryani and Nouman's supplied chicken was zabardast! much better than our last attempt at a BBQ!!!! :)

Post food someone had the bright idea of playing cricket using the narrow footpath as a pitch. there was the usual anti-cricket protests from qasim and talha, but the game went ahead anyway! Undeterred a game of badminton started amongst the non-cricket playing folks :).

We broke for Asr after which it was time to take leave. We were all EXhausTeD but it was worth every body ache! Can't wait for the next BBQ!!!!

Oh we managed to forget the camera this time too. however Abdul Rehman did get a couple of snaps with his mobile cam.
